April 18 – 24 is officially National Volunteer Week 2021. What better time to consider supporting your community or favorite cause? You might find that you get back even more than you give.

Quick, name the most popular hobbies in the United States today. Did you guess genealogy? Did it even make your top 10? Well, it should.

In fact, according to some listings, genealogy is among the top five hobbies nationwide.

Hope is the belief one holds during tough times that things will get better.

By our very nature, humans are a hopeful species. It allows us to withstand, overcome, heal, and grow as a person. Hope helps us envision that a challenge or threat can be defeated, and that there will be a “better tomorrow."

Stay Well. These words have ended every one of our GHReat Tips for Health emails over the past year.

To us, staying well means maintaining a holistic perspective across our physical, mental, medical, and spiritual well-being. It is about finding balance in our lives.

Over the past year, we’ve talked about a lot of different ways to pass time, relieve stress, have fun and entertain yourself.

Today, we want to introduce you, or more likely reintroduce you, to a simple deck of playing cards. That’s right, the old school, low tech, no batteries required, way to entertain and connect with yourself and your friends.

It is so simple. In truth, it sounds too simple to really make a difference. But it does.

Here’s a quick quiz. What takes five minutes a day, makes your entire body feel better, relieves stress, and keeps your muscles flexible, strong, and healthy?

Wow, it’s hard to believe we’re coming up on our one-year anniversary of sending out our weekly GHReat Tips for Health to our GHR family.

Not to go all literary on you, but with thanks to the poet Robert Burns (and an old Scottish proverb), I’ll start with one of my favorite quotes: "the best-laid plans of mice and men oft go astray.”
